Travel by dhow or speed boat to the place for where you will start and trek up to the hills of Al Hajjar Mountain for splendid views, abandoned villages and ruins. You can see remains of ancient civilization and marvel how do they survived in such barren land.
Overnight on camp / dhow (by request) or return to Khasab.

Due to a change in water temperatures along the coast and an annual migration of sardines, the prime fishing season in Oman is September to April. The primary fishing area for Khour Shem Safari outings is Khasab fjords or Kumzar which hosts, among others, Marlin, Sailfish, Yellow fin Tuna, Cobia, Mai Mai and over 10 different species of Trevally. In a half day trip we offer soft drinks, tea and coffee, fruits, traditional fishing equipments and bait.

Camping or overnight on dhow
Experience romantic nights on the Dhow or camping on the beach under the starry sky and in a remote area. We will set up all your requirements, including tents, mattress and sleeping bags. There will be basic toilet and shower facilities as well as illumination by generator and dining tables and chairs. Our locations are the remount beach of the fjords island. We will provide dinner and breakfast, tea, coffee, fruits and refreshments. Dinner will be a barbecue of chicken or fish, marinated in herbs and seasoning. We can cater for up to 50 people for any period of time, and are willing to arrange some local entertainment

Introduction of Musandam, Sultanate of Oman

The Sultanate of Oman is the second largest country on the Arabian Peninsula, lying along its southeast corner. The Musandam, separated from the rest of Oman by the United Arab Emirates, is the northernmost part of the Sultanate.

Due to its geographical position and mountainous terrain it was isolated from the rest of Oman and the region developed at its own pace. Graded roads cut across the mountains have now made it more accessible. The grandeur of Musandam can best be explored by sea. Musandam Peninsula has an abundance of sheltered fjords, some only connected to the mainland by narrow cliffs. Fjords, or khors, created by fragmented rock stretching claw-like into the sea and massive overshadowing cliffs towering above are magnificently reflected in the water below.
Khasab is located 500 kilometers from Muscat and is dubbed the "Norway of Arabia". Mighty jebels rise up in this unique and rugged locale. Apart from the beauty that lies above the waters, Musandam also has a rich and colorful underwater world, teeming with varied marine life providing for some spectacular snorkeling, scuba diving and fishing. The breathtaking beauty of the mountains, the unspoiled beaches and steep wadis are aplenty in Khasab.
The majestic fjords dotted with islands and the crystal clear waters shimmering in the sun along with the Khasab Fort, the Telegraph Island and underwater adventures account for a truly memorable holiday.

The best way to experience the idyllic beauty of Musandam is by sea trips on typical dhows. Many species of sea birds roam and nest around the cliffs at Khour Ghubb Ali. Dolphins can be sighted near the Jebel Shams on Khour Shem Fjord, the sea fossils and petroglifes dated more than 2000 yrs you can be seen in Jebel Harim the highest peak in Musandam. Khasab also has a number of modern shopping areas with imported Iranian goods and locally created pottery.

Khasab Town
Khasab Town is the regional center of Musandam, Sultanate of Oman. It is located very close to the Strait of Hormuz about 60 km away from Ras Al Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates, about 2 and half hours from Dubai. It is known for fishing and diving, Khasab is currently evolving as a tourist destination, the diving in the area being well known for its challenges. Mountain safaris are popular as are the Dhow Cruises of the nearby Fjords. Transfers to Muscat by plane or by ferry boat are available in Khasab.

Khour Shem
Khour Shem is 1 km away from Khasab, it overlooks both the Arabian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman. Khour Shem is divided into 5 sites. Nadhifi, situated at the entrance of the Khour, Qana, Maqlab, Sibi and Shem. It has four islands; the most famous one is the Telegraph Island, where you can swim in the clear waters. The place was a station along the telegraph cable that linked London to Iraq's southern city of Basra and onwards to Mumbai, India in 1864. On the way you can watch dolphins.
